Semnan’s Raah-e Aseman Foundation Welcomes Second Advanced Radiotherapy Machine, Bolstering Regional Cancer Care

Semnan, Iran – A significant step forward in cancer care for Semnan province has been achieved with the arrival of the second linear accelerator radiotherapy machine for the Raah-e Aseman Charity Foundation. Mr. Sadighi, CEO of the foundation, announced that the device, generously donated by Iranian expatriates residing in the USA and the Razi Health Foundation, has successfully cleared customs after a two-year process and recently arrived at the site of the Rah-e Aseman Cancer Diagnosis and Treatment Center.

This latest acquisition joins another radiotherapy machine previously purchased by the Rah-e Aseman Charity Foundation through the efforts of other philanthropists. Notably, both state-of-the-art machines are American-made, manufactured by Varian, and possess similar advanced capabilities. In addition to these crucial radiotherapy units, the foundation has also procured CT simulator and dosimetry equipment, further enhancing the comprehensive cancer care services planned for the region.

Paving the Way for Enhanced Patient Care

Mr. Sadighi elaborated on the next steps, stating, “Following the necessary approvals and operational permits from the Ministry of Health, Semnan University of Medical Sciences, and the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, both machines will be installed at the Rah-e Aseman Cancer Treatment Center. They will soon be ready to serve cancer patients in Semnan province.” He emphasized a cornerstone of the project: “Once operational, patients will receive radiotherapy treatment entirely free of charge.”

The establishment of such a comprehensive center in Semnan is of paramount importance. Previously, the province lacked any radiotherapy services, forcing patients to undertake arduous journeys to cities like Tehran, Zanjan, Mashhad, or Sari for treatment. “A cancer patient typically requires between 50 to 70 radiotherapy sessions,” Mr. Sadighi explained. “This not only involves treatment costs but also imposes significant additional burdens of travel and accommodation on patients and their families. This is compounded by their physical discomfort and the critical need for a peaceful environment, surrounded by family and emotional support, during their treatment.”

A Call for Continued Generosity

Expressing deep gratitude, Mr. Sadighi added, “We are immensely thankful to all the philanthropists who have supported Rah-e Aseman to date. We earnestly call upon their continued noble efforts to help us complete this vital project.” Individuals wishing to support the Rah-e Aseman Charity Foundation can do so through online donations or by setting up regular contributions. The names of all benefactors who have contributed to the construction and equipping of the radiotherapy center are proudly immortalized on the ‘Shining Stars of Raah-e Aseman’ plaque.

The Raah-e Aseman Cancer Diagnosis and Treatment Center: A Comprehensive Vision

Initiated in 2021, the Raah-e Aseman Cancer Diagnosis and Treatment Center is an ambitious project designed to offer a holistic range of services. These will include radiotherapy, chemotherapy, a dedicated cancer clinic, laboratory and pharmacy services, advanced diagnostic imaging (such as mammography), nuclear medicine, physiotherapy and rehabilitation, a dental clinic, educational and social services, a cancer research institute, and a conference hall for scientific seminars.

“To date, approximately 650 billion Iranian Tomans have been invested in the equipment and construction of the project,” Mr. Sedighi noted. “We are hopeful that with an additional 25 billion Tomans, we can complete the radiotherapy section and achieve the honor of serving patients in need.”
