Professor Akbari speech about cancer, Gathering of philanthropic supporters
Cancer; the Second Leading Cause of Death Worldwide
Dr. Mohammad Ismail Akbari, a highly specialized surgeon in endocrine and oncological diseases, with a 50-year track record in cancer treatment, stated that cancer is far more complex than one might imagine. Less than two months ago, the United Nations issued a statement predicting a 93% increase in cancer-related deaths among men worldwide in the next 20 years. Despite significant investments and extensive research in cancer, humanity has yet to find a simple solution to this complex disease.
He further added that cancer is more than just a biological or physical ailment; it can undoubtedly be considered a societal issue. Certain decisions made by authorities can either contribute to or prevent cancer. Highlighting the existence of over 200 recognized types of cancer worldwide, he emphasized that regardless of the specific type, cancer affects both the patient and their loved ones. Therefore, paying attention to cancer, especially cancer patients, should be a priority for any organization seeking to operate on a community level.
